Rules & Guidelines

All participants are required to register, if you are just a passenger there is no need to register. Registration is $45/person. All registered participants will receive a poker card, a lunch wristband and a SWAG bag. Those who pre-ordered shirts will receive their shirts. Those who are camping will receive a “camp out” sticker. Wristband must remain secured on participants at all times in order to receive free lunch. Please DO NOT tamper/switch wristbands with people in order to receive free food, we have paid our vendor for a specific number of lunches and we do not want to take away money from the veteran’s in order to pay for your bad behavior. Thank you.

Poker Run:

  • Riders will meet at the starting gate and be released in groups (i.e.: Dirt Bikes, ATV’s, UTV’s, Jeeps, etc.) THIS IS NOT A RACE! Please take off in a respectful manner and be aware of your surroundings.

  • In order to prevent traffic jams, we will split groups to start on different loops. COMPLETE BOTH LOOPS BEFORE ENDING THE POKER RUN. (If you ride loop 1 before lunch, ride loop 2 after lunch)

  • Follow the Red/White/Blue trail markers to the cardstops. (2) Cardstops will be on each loop, a total of (4) cardstops on the course.

  • STOP at each cardstop to draw a number, have your poker card punched and initialed. RETURN to registration for lunch OR start the second loop. (Closing ceremonies will start at 3:30pm)

Please do not “dilly-dally” pulling your number out. You may park on the side of the cardstops if you wish to visit and relax before continuing on the course, do not be “that guy” who parks in the middle of the road.

  • The 5th cardstop is at the registration table. You may purchase additional “cards” at the 6th Cardstop located in the venue for $20, limit of 2 additional punches.

*PLEASE FINISH BOTH LOOPS TO RECEIVE ALL 4 NUMBERS
**If somehow you missed a cardstop on the loops or were unable to finish the loops, you may draw a number at the 5th cardstop

HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT POKER HAND WE HAVE?

  • While you are out on the course, each number will be randomly assigned a playing card to ensure there is NO CHEATING ( #1 could the 3 of Clubs, #2 could be queen of hearts, etc.)

  • The numbers/playing cards will be set up on stage when you get back from both loops. Use a pen to write down your cards in the blank space provided on your poker card and see Kelly or the crew member helping out at the stage to see if you are one of the top poker hands.

  • Winning hand is determined using Hoyle Official Poker Rules, Fern 45 Crew Members have final say

Winner will receive $500, any ties will be broken using a good ol’ 3 out of 5 card flip.
SAFETY AND SPORTSMANSHIP
The Fern 45 wants this fundraiser to be a fun, safe and family friendly environment. The safety and well‐being of our visitors and guests is our top priority.  To ensure that our event is a success and fun is had by all, please adhere to the following event guidelines:

  • DO utilize safety equipment i.e. helmets, flags, fire extinguishers, first aid kits. Although they are not required, we strongly encourage their use.

  • DO carry a cell phone with you to call for help if an emergency occurs. EMT’s will be on‐site throughout the event.  If needed, call the Fern 45 crew at (775) 815-3086. You can also call this number if your machine becomes disabled and you need assistance. Try to call first, if we don’t answer, try to text us (service may be spotty out there).

  • DO be respectful to your fellow riders. Keep in mind that different levels of riding experience will be on the trail as well as different ages of participants. This includes driving at reasonable speeds conducive to the terrain and others on the track. THIS IS NOT A RACE!

  • DO use the trash bag provided in your SWAG bag. Understanding there are littered areas along the course, we please, please ask that you pack out whatever you bring in. So we can do our part to not contribute to the problem. We will have more than enough disposal containers to drop your trash in the camping/registration areas.

  • DO plan your ride with an end time of 3:30-4:00pm in mind. Winning hand will be announced around 4:30pm.

  • DO stay on marked trails, we submitted a map of the course to BLM and that is where you need to ride this weekend. PLEASE be aware and obey all signs, gates, warning flags, and barriers.

  • DO HAVE FUN! We have lots of little surprises along the route, take full advantage of the day. Take lots of pictures and share them on our social media sites, tagging us @thefern45 and using the hashtag #fern45
